Success Smells

So, it's getting down to the wire in Celebrity Apprentice. There's only a handful of contestants left, and it's kind of sad, actually. Just to remind all of you, this is NOT a recap blog. I will be giving you my opinions, plain and simple. I look at each episode and weigh in the entire season, but in NO way will I recap the episode, much less the season. I talk about what stands out to ME. I hate having to put a disclaimer like this on my posts, but some people don't seem to understand where I'm coming from, so I need to explain it.

I was not impressed with Aubrey's display for Trump's cologne. The buildings looked cheap, and the silhouette cutout was way too small. I thought she was going to have Eric stand with his back to her and then have the cutout be the outline of his head and shoulders, which could have worked better. Anyway, one of the only things that I liked about Aubrey's display was the pamphlets and the scent sticks. I also liked that there were little shelves for the cologne to be displayed all up and down the building cutouts. Aubrey did a pretty good job with the presentation, and I think she impressed the executives with her verbal prowess.

Teresa impressed me by running around and painting the display. She really worked hard, and it showed. Arsenio resisted the urge to fight with Aubrey, which was nice for a change.

Clay was too hesitant with his choices, I felt. Penn's ideas weren't bad, necessarily, but Clay should have come up with a better tagline. I loved the picture that Dayana took, which was also Penn's idea. I thought it was a great photo and I thought it was an awesome reflection of the brand and the cologne. It looked like Dayana was smelling her man and loving it. LOL! Lisa was a good sport this week (no meltdowns), even though she did spy on the other team. But she didn't see much other than the skyline in the making. But really, the displays couldn't have been more different.

I was surprised that Aubrey won, but when it came down to it, unfortunately, I could see Penn's firing coming from a mile away. Clay made sure to let Trump know that Penn came up with the tagline that the executives hated so much. And it was just that simple, as it sometimes can be on Celebrity Apprentice. Trump gets fixated on one thing, and that's all it takes.

Queen of Mean

Last night on Celebrity Apprentice, we got some puppet action, which is always a good time. Again, this is not a recap blog, this is an opinion-based blog. So if I leave things out, it's just because they weren't that interesting. Sorry!

This one is actually going to be a little short, because frankly, this show is getting old. Not because of the people on it, necessarily, but because there aren't that many people left, and the teams are starting to dwindle down to practically nothing.

First, Lisa lived up to her nickname, "Queen of Mean". I like her a lot but I was not happy with Lisa on this episode. She flipped out at Dayana for wanting to be involved, again, and that was wrong. Dayana wanted something to do, and that came across pretty clearly. Lisa took it as Dayana just wanting to be on stage and threw a fit. However, we never know the whole story when it comes to these reality shows, so there may have been more to it. But, from what we saw, Lisa was wrong on this one. Good thing her team won. She did redeem herself somewhat in the end, and stated if they did lose, she would consider going home. She stated she wasn't here to make other people cry, so maybe that was her way of apologizing? I'm just hoping she gives Dayana some slack next week. As for this week's challenge, they did an amazing job, and I have to give Clay a lot of credit. He's my new favorite to win the whole thing.

Teresa showed her range as a performer, which I think we can all agree is minimal. She's clearly not an actress, and I think she would have been better as the host, and Aubrey would have done a better job with the puppet. Paul checked out from the beginning and deserved to be fired.

So, next week, it's all about Trump's fragrance. Yawn. I truly believe the teams should be eliminated and each player fend for themselves. Who's with me?

Three Hours!!!

I'm enjoying Celebrity Apprentice as much as the next reality tv obsessed person, but damn, this week's episode almost broke me! Three hours??? What the hell is Trump thinking? The two hour episodes are bonkers enough. No more three hour episodes, Donald. I mean it.

Not that it wasn't entertaining. The first half was another astonishing failure from the women's team, who don't need hardly any excuse to turn on each other. I loved their guide book and thought it was the better product, as did Regis Philbin, but the boys made more money. Plain and simple. And The Blue Man Group is a bunch of douches for not handing over the cash like normal people. Blowing money in the air in New York City, when it's supposed to be for charity, is a douche move. With that said, Debbie Gibson got her walking papers, courtesy of an enraged Teresa Giudice, for no apparent reason, by the way. But whatever, Lisa Lampanelli's still in it, and that's all I care about.

The second half was way more interesting. Seeing that the women's team is doomed, Trump switched up the teams. Aubrey and Teresa went to Unanimous, with Paul, Clay, and Arsenio, and Penn, Lou Ferrigno, and Dee Snider went to Forte, with Lisa and Dayana. This brought about some fascinating group dynamics.

Lisa ends up being the driving force behind the challenge, again, with some strong support from Penn. But Penn has to leave mid-challenge for a performance that couldn't be rescheduled. Dee seems to be on the ball, but his idea for the "box" a kit designed for the Walk with Walgreens campaign falls flat. The presentation, given mostly by Lou, who's the project manager, goes over really well. Penn, just back from his performance and on just a couple hours' sleep, blurts out WalMart instead of Walgreens. Big mistake. Dayana saves it with some comedy (in her crown and bathing suit), but it's not enough to save the team. Dee is sent packing at the end of the show.

The most explosive moments had nothing to do with who was being fired, surprisingly. It was all about Arsenio vs. Aubrey. Now, Arsenio's been talking smack about Aubrey since day one (or at least that's what it looks like to us, the viewers). So, he has some resentment towards her and of course, doesn't want her on his team. She didn't do herself any favors by being overbearing, whiny, and just plain annoying throughout the challenge. She insisted on doing things her way, even after Arsenio objected. They won the challenge, but Arsenio had enough of her "selfishness" and went off on her in the boardroom. He made some good points, like how she takes credit for things that aren't necessarily all her doing. She cried and pouted and tried to fight back, but ended up looking like a bigger brat than ever. When they won, she went to the elevator instead of back to the war room.

Here's the deal, Aubrey. You helped create a certain environment in this game, along with Lisa and whoever else was agreeing with you on any given day. The tables have turned. Deal with it. You're on a team with a guy who clearly doesn't respect how you do business. And he's right about you using your sexiness to get what you want. I think you'll even admit that. But you have to know that not everyone is going to be on board with your style all the time. So you have to back off. You have to let other people get a word in. You have to stop trying to control everything. If you're as strong a player as you say you are, you won't quit. You'll stick it out and learn from your mistakes. Now, you've had a lot of bad things to say about almost everyone else in this game. Maybe this is what you need to learn some humility and some compassion. Just saying.

And Arsenio? Dude. Take a chill pill. It's really not that serious.

No Brainer

This week, Celebrity Apprentice was a total disaster. The teams had to put together a presentation for the new Buick Verano and in my opinion, they both did a pretty good job with the task. But I have a few issues with this episode. Let's begin:

The men's team was lead my one of my favorite people, Adam Carolla. Now, being that Michael Andretti is a race car driver, you would think he would be the project manager. Guess what. He didn't want to be project manager. Fine. Michael basically passed on it because he heard the word "presentation", and decided he doesn't talk so good, so he let the tv and radio personality have a shot at it. Honestly, Adam seemed kind of full of himself and took the leadership role and ran with it. Even when his team disagreed with his "heckler" concept. However, the presentation itself wasn't bad. Adam was funny (he always is) and he knew the car inside and out. Michael stood up there and tried to put words together for a little bit, then was mercifully dismissed. Penn got into the trunk of the car!

Let's talk about the women for a bit, now. Debbie was project manager and as expected, found a way to sing in the presentation. Barf. I loved Aubrey's line about how the audience was going to hear Debbie sing whether they bought a ticket or not. Debbie's an accomplished singer, we get it. I don't know why she wants to ram it down our throats all the time. Not to say Aubrey's any better. She's a fountain of ideas and is quick on her feet, but gurl has major attitude. The women's presentation went along smoothly until the question/answer portion, where Tia couldn't answer the very first question about safety ratings. Lisa was hilarious and Teresa brought Juicy Joe and the kids to be a part of the presentation, which I thought worked well with the overall concept. Debbie's leadership was questioned in the boardroom and Tia and Teresa expressed that Debbie has a tendency to be condescending. You don't say!

Bottom line, the women won and now it was time for Adam to decide who to bring back into the boardroom. Adam said he wouldn't bring anyone back because he was project manager, and he lost the challenge. Trump was not happy, so he fired Adam and Michael, but not before beating the dead horse named "Michael Andretti is a race car driver and this was a car challenge so he should have been project manager". Here's what: Michael isn't presentation-giver! If you have a chance, listen to Adam's podcast from  Monday where he explains how over the show he was at this point and why he decided on the concept for the men's team. Seriously, he got some serious misinformation, still gave a really good presentation, lost and went home for it. But it's reality tv. No one said it would be fair.

Oh My ...

Sunday's Celebrity Apprentice was an Ivanka Extravaganza - basically a big commercial for her apparel/jewelry/shoe/purse line(s). But, score, because her stuff is gorgeous. The assignment: create two different window displays at Lord & Taylor's featuring Ivanka's wares. The women's team was led by Dayana - who couldn't wait to make her project manager debut - and the men picked George, well, because he's gay.

I think Dayana got overwhelmed very quickly, especially when the window space turned out to be smaller than anticipated. She really relied on Debbie and Aubrey to get things done, not to mention Lisa, who was also a huge help. I noticed Teresa and Tia were in the background, but that doesn't mean they weren't working diligently on the task. I realize there's a lot we, the audience, don't see. Wasn't it hilarious when Teresa wanted to be project manager and she essentially got shut down by her team?! Oh and Debbie was DENIED from being one of the models because of her age?! Oh, the shade of it all (Trademark: Latrice Royale). I loved the women's concept in the beginning, and it would have been great if they could have pulled it off. Sadly, there were too many roadblocks to actually get it off the ground. Who knew it was that hard to get some damn photos? But their plan B was a winner, and finally, the women could relax with their first win of the season. Let's keep this going, ladies!

The men's team was a hot mess. Their display was dull, the clothes weren't used to their full potential, and the only redeeming thing about it was the signage. Other than that, it looked exactly like a bunch of guys putting together a window display for a women's line. I'm not saying they COULDN'T have done a great job, there was just a lot that was left undone. They could have done so much more with their space. I was so disappointed in Adam because he didn't want to really run things by George as the project manager, and we all know why. Everyone thought he wasn't the best manager, but no one would really come out and say it, except Lou. I think the guys need to use Lou more, because ... you won't like him when he's angry. Sorry, I couldn't resist. But seriously. Lou has good ideas, he's just not being heard. Ironic, no? I was happy to see Trump acknowledge that Arsenio messed up on the wardrobe choices and Clay's performance was subpar. Ultimately, George just wasn't as strong of a leader as he should have been.

FOCUS!

The first episode of this season's Celebrity Apprentice aired Sunday night (2 hours! Really, Trump?), and I was beyond excited to watch it. I love that there's already some drama, but I was surprised who was bringing the bitchiness on the first episode.

First of all, what was Cheryl Tiegs on exactly? She was a zombie the entire episode and basically asked to go home. This lady was either high on something or just extremely relaxed. Either way, I'm glad she's gone.

I loved that the Venezuelan girls Dayana and Patricia helped each other out in the first challenge. Now, you know I have to say this for my mom. We're part Venezuelan, so these girls are related to us and we are obligated to root for them. (We're not really related, my mom just thinks we are. Don't judge.) But seriously, that was some serious team spirit between those two, and I loved it.

Miss Aubrey O'Day schooled us on what it means to be famous (have the most twitter followers) and what it looks like to have constant crazy eyes (calm down with the eyebrow pencil, gurl). Are you serious, Aubrey?! You haven't had a hit song in YEARS. And you can't drop Diddy's name in one breath and then decline to say he's a good guy in the other. Oh and who knew Trump and Diddy were homies? So be nice, Aubrey, Trump is Team Diddy.

Debbie Gibson did exactly what everyone was dreading she would do - sing. Stop it. No one cares and you're being super annoying about your musical "talent". Only in my dreams will you shut the hell up.

Lisa Lampanelli was straight-forward, professional, and really nice. I love her!!! Team Lisa!!!!

I was disappointed in Victoria Gotti's performance and lack of focus, but she better BRING IT from now on. I want to see this lady get to at least the final 5.

Teresa Giudice was surprisingly mellow and nice, which I appreciated. But it's only a matter of time before she flips out and calls someone a prostitution whore. And who else loved Andy Cohen's cameo?!

Now let's move on to the men. Paul Sr. of Orange County Choppers is a real dumb dumb. He was so rude to George Takei and called him "meek", which Trump quickly jumped on in the boardroom. Just because George is calm and quieter than the others doesn't make him "meek". But in all honesty, I think Paul is put off by George in general and he thought he could push him around. He kept calling him "Star Trek" and at one point asked if he had gone to "space" when he didn't come running when Paul bellowed. Whatever, Paul Sr. No wonder your kids don't talk to you. You got your ass handed to you by Trump and I hope you're the next to go. Not to mention the mysterious $305,000 donation that landed you the win. You said you would get someone to donate, or just do it yourself. Isn't that against the rules? If not, then everyone should just donate their own money and secure the win on every challenge. The point is to get the donations from OTHER people, that's what makes it a CHALLENGE. I am 99% certain that $305,000 came from you, and that was totally wrong of you. You just wanted to win, but it wasn't a true victory. You bought it. So I'm officially calling you out.

I loved the banter between Adam Carolla, Penn Jillette, and Arsenio Hall. These guys were hilarious together. I really want Adam and Penn in the final 5. And I think Penn might take the whole thing.

Clay was a bit of a diva but I want to see him be even more bitchy. I love it. And his hair is spikier in every scene. I think it gets spikier as he gets more agitated. YES!

Video Games

This past Saturday, Harry Potter himself, Daniel Radcliffe hosted SNL for the first time. Indie darling Lana Del Rey was the musical guest. You can watch the show here. Here's how it went:

The cold open was a fairly amusing Mitt Romney sketch skewering his comments regarding firing people. Of course, it went too long, but it wasn't terrible.

Daniel's monologue was really funny. I loved his run on the Harry Potter books/movies, including his comment that the books are for children, of course, he was joking. He referenced past Harry Potter sketches, and nixed potential sketches, such as Dumbledore running a Pottery Barn, a new character called Harry Pothead, and the Jersey Shore Hogwarts class.

Up next, a commercial parody for Ricky Gervais' hosting gigs. The premise is that he's not only hosting the Golden Globes, but also the Kids Choice Awards, Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show, and the BET Awards. Jason Sudeikis does a great job with this impression.

The first live sketch of the night is The Target Lady, played by the incredibly talented Kristen Wiig. I know some are tired of this sketch, but I thought this installment in the recurring sketch pretty entertaining. Daniel plays a mullet-sporting muscle-bound coworker who's got a thing for Kristen's character. Bill Hader adds laughs with his creepy manager role. Best quote of the sketch: "Pull your pants back up, I can see your forest!"

"You Can Do Anything", a talk show sketch hosted by Vanessa Bayer and Bill Hader, focuses on the "incredibly high self-esteem of the YouTube generation". Vanessa is a photo blogger, Bill, an independent filmmaker. Their three guests take turns showing that they have no training or education in their chosen profession, but that doesn't stop them from declaring that they're the best at what they do. This sketch comes off as a little bitter - maybe it's the writers way of fighting back against the YouTube videos like "Sh*t Girls Say" - which some argue are funnier than SNL. Best line of the sketch: "I tried and therefore no one should criticize me."

Then we have another filmed sketch, Spin the Bottle. Daniel plays a germaphobe who's caught in a cruel game he can't seem to escape. With hobos.

We get another live sketch, a knock off of the Jersey Boys musical, Delaware Fellas. Citing the high ticket prices for Jersey Boys, Delaware Fellas seems to be the next best (and affordable) option. And Joe Biden is a fan. Keenan Thompson steals this one with his choice of accent.

The Harry Potter sketch is centered around a bored and bitter Harry hanging out at Hogwarts 10 years after eliminating Voldemort. Bill Hader does a spot on Professor Snape. Fans of the books/movies will appreciate this one. Everyone else will be a little lost.

Now for the controversial part. Usually, the musical performances are a nice break from the comedy, giving us a chance to just sit back and enjoy the artist and their song. No such luck here. Lana Del Rey caused quite an uproar with her performance of the song "Video Games". First of all, she's a beautiful girl. Long red hair perfectly cascades over her shoulders, she's wearing a delicate white lace gown, and her face is oddly angelic. She starts the song in a somewhat surprising lower tone of voice, then switches to an almost whisper. She's working a shy girl persona, and I have to admit it is sort of fascinating, but only because she's so distant and aloof. Then she runs into several rough spots, vocally, and her use of corny hand choreography while walking around in circles playing with hair is eventually off-putting. At times, she's just talking over the music. To be honest, the melody of the song has been done before - which in itself is no crime. The official track is way overproduced, making her vocals a lot more palatable than they are on this live broadcast. Check out the official video for the song here. The overall online response seems to be negative, but that could be because of her backstory - which many have a problem with. More on that later.

Weekend Update features Kim Jong Un's two best friends from growing up, played by Fred Armisen and Vanessa Bayer, doing their usual whispering criticism of their "friend". The highlight was Daniel playing Casey Anthony's adopted Yorkshire Terrier. After discussing Casey's recent internet searches, he asks "Where was Sarah Mclachlan on this one?" He describes life with Casey as "rough", which gets a huge laugh. He reveals Casey has a new boyfriend, Dragon, and says they met at a booty shaking contest.

Then they did a somewhat disappointing sketch, which takes place in the future, making fun of how we live in the year 2012, including using the internet to send emails, wearing layers of clothing, and having indoor bathrooms. Oh and apparently, Taylor Swift assassinates someone in the future, and wolverines are domesticated household pets.

Kristen Wiig is featured in a series of campaign ads as Glenda Okones, which are actually attack ads on herself.

Next, we have the Jay Pharoah Show, where he basically resorts to doing celebrity impressions, such as Denzel, Will Smith, and Chris Rock. His guest is Daniel Radcliffe, but he has no idea who he is. Jay closes with his Tracy Morgan impression, which is sadly not as good as the others.

Lana Del Rey's next performance is a song called "Blue Jeans". What surprised me is that she had no costume change between performances. It was the same exact dress. It's strange to me, because most performers change outfits for the second song. Lana's vocals are no better this time around, switching from bellowing to whining. Billboard.com did a really good article about the controversy surrounding this new artist, check it out here. My take on it is, changing your public image is nothing new. Lady Gaga is very open about her transformation - the Marry the Night song and video is all about that. But, what I think people are upset about it is the apparent attempt to hide her former persona, like this other incarnation of her never existed. On Lana's twitter page, she says, "I have everything I want - money, notoriety, and rivieras." Maybe this is just another attempt to get buzz going about her. Some are reporting that she was just nervous. I didn't see "nervous", I saw a lack of preparation, showmanship, and general performance skills.

The last sketch was Kristen Wiig harrassing Daniel via an exit poll, which was really funny.

The last offering is another commercial sketch, this time for the Headz Up app - an app that tells you what's happening right in front of you, like a car coming towards you, so you never have to look up from your phone. Somewhat amusing.

Overall, there were some standout moments, but what people will be talking about it Lana Del Rey and her polarizing persona.

Celebrity Apprentice Cast Announced

The official list of cast members on this season's Celebrity Apprentice was released today, and there are a few potential firecrackers that I'm really excited about.

We all know that Victoria Gotti and Teresa Giudice get into it, since Ms. Gotti pretty much spilled the tea on the Wendy Williams show late last year.

Here are the rest:

Adam Carolla: He honestly just makes everything better. I love how he ridicules celebrities right to their faces, and since they're celebrities, they have no idea what to do about it. I'll never forget when Adam was on Watch What Happens Live with Jill Zarin and he completely annihilated her, and it was spectacular.

Lisa Lampanelli: A killer comic with a razor sharp wit and more dirty jokes than you can even imagine, and one of my all time favorite funny ladies. She is actually a very nice person, so I don't think she'll get into fights with anyone, but her one liners alone are enough for me.

George Takei: Legendary actor from Star Trek. He is going to be hilarious on this show. He's got a really good sense of humor and he's used to working with divas (ahem, William Shatner).

Clay Aiken: Please tell me he's going to go toe to toe with George Takei at some point. That's just good tv. But seriously, I'm expecting a lot of attitude from the Clayster and I'll be disappointed if I don't get it. Gurl.

Tia Carrere: We always think we're done with this girl, but she keeps popping up randomly for no reason. I predict that she'll be gone within the first three episodes. Nothing against her, but she's not a very interesting person. UNLESS, she brings the crazy. Then, all bets are off. Because there's no crazy like pretty girl crazy.

Michael Andretti: I know he was a race car driver. Meh.

Debbie Gibson: Super annoying! She's so hellbent on being a superstar again that she's just grating. She'll definitely get into some screaming matches. I'm surprised she didn't bring her bestie Tiffany with her.

Lou Ferrigno: I love this man. He's the best. I don't see him winning, but he'll be the nice, gentle giant with the positive attitude that everyone will throw under the bus to save themselves. But don't make him angry.

Dayana Mendoza: Former Miss Universe, so she better be crazy. Or else you know she'll be fired on the first episode.

Penn Jillette: Extremely smart magician guy. I can see him winning. He's really charming, not a pushover, and he'll have no problem defending himself in the boardroom.

Aubrey O'Day: We know this one is crazy, so I predict her nemesis will be Debbie or Tia and her BFFs will be Clay and Dayana.

Dee Snider: Really irritating, super egotistical, so that means he's just like The Donald with a ponytail. I know he's an intelligent man, but just not the kind of guy you want to be stuck on the same team with.

Cheryl Tiegs: An iconic, classy lady. She doesn't stand a chance.

Paul Teutul, Sr.: This guy is hilarious - I just want him to start yelling at his teammates like he used to yell at his kids (who happened to not talk to him anymore) on the OCC show. Oh, and I want him and Lou Ferrigno to arm wrestle.

Patricia Velasquez: Venezuelan model/actress, so I'm obligated to root for her, since my mother believes we're related to all Venezuelans (and Puerto Ricans).

Who are you rooting for? Tweet me!

2012 is HERE!

I hope everyone is having a great year so far! I really enjoyed all of the NYE programming this year. To be fair, I have a special place in my heart for CNN's coverage with Anderson Cooper and Kathy Griffin, so of course, that's always my favorite. And it was even better this year, because Kathy strutted around in her bra for us - but didn't swear AT ALL - which made for a very giggly Anderson, just like I like him. Lady Gaga's performance on ABC's Rockin' Eve (can they come up with a better name, please?!) was AMAZING! We got Heavy Metal Lover, Marry The Night, and Born This Way. I loved it. And her outfit for the ball drop??? OMG ... 2012 will be another year of Gaga domination. I'm telling you. CeeLo Green doing "Imagine" was oddly touching. I was impressed. I even checked out MTV's NYE special, and Demi Lovato's performance was the highlight for me. On NBC, The Roots killed it, not once, but twice. Those guys are ridiculously talented.

I guess I should tell you what my "resolution" is - although it's not much of a resolution, it's more of a declaration. I plan to take every single opportunity and do something with it. I plan to put myself out there with everything I have and let people see what I have to offer. I plan to team up with the best and the brightest I can find to make something truly magical happen. It's really up to me to change my life, and starting this blog almost a year ago was the first step. I want to thank every single person who has ever read my blog, because each of you gave me the encouragement to keep on writing.

Let's make 2012 an amazing year. Oh yeah, and screw the Mayan calendar. This year, it's not the end. It's just gettin' started!

Just Go For It!

If you're still not watching Parks and Recreation on Thursdays on NBC, you should be ashamed of yourself. Now, do the right thing and go to this site and get caught up.

This week, Ben is still bummed out and tells Leslie he's made arrangements to no longer spend time at the Parks and Recreation department. NO! Ben and Leslie belong together!! Tom and Jerry are assigned to work on a new logo and overall makeover for the Parks and Rec image. Andy is thinking of going to college, and he has April and Ron by his side giving him their respective takes on what his college career should consist of. Leslie is panicking over the prospect of not seeing Ben anymore and Ann tries to talk some sense into her, which of course, doesn't work. Leslie decides to drag out the last project she and Ben will be working on so that she can continue to spend time with him. Oh, honey, this is not the way to go.

Leslie finally gets herself together and talks to Ben. You gotta see this episode. I LOVE THIS SHOW!

Someone Like You

Emma Stone has made my list of favorite SNL hosts. This season is just getting better and better. This Saturday Jason Segel is hosting with Florence + The Machine as the musical guest. I'm psyched!

But back to last Saturday. You can watch this episode and others you may have missed here.

The opener was another dig at the Republican Debates. I still find them funny, especially Bill Hader's take on Rick Perry. Still makes me laugh.

Emma's monologue was pretty good, and her gorgeous boyfriend, Andrew Garfield, making a cameo just made it even better.

Secret Word with Kristin Wiig was hilarious! I wish game shows were still like this.

Bill Hader killed again as Herb the Newsman. Or should I say he "died" again, LOL!

The digital short this week wasn't that great. And I'm not a fan of Coldplay's new stuff so I didn't pay attention to their performance.

Weekend Update was fun, as usual. I really love Seth Myer's delivery. Jason Sudeikis made an appearance as the devil, who is apparently not as informed on recent bad guys as we'd expect. This bit is always amusing. Kat and Garth, the musical team who just can't seem to prepare stopped by as well with their new backup singer (Coldplay frontman Chris Martin). This was really fun, I love watching Fred try to lose Kristin while they're ad-libbing but she keeps right up with him. So talented.

The French Kids sketch was cute, I don't know why I love it so much but I do. Don't judge me.

The Bridal Shower sketch was probably the funniest of the night for me. Emma was so hilarious in this one.

Another Coldplay performance - fast forwarded, sorry.

Happy Hour sketch was good too, and yes, everyone sings Adele's "Someone Like You" while crying when they're sad. This one was awesome.

The last sketch was "We're Going to Make Technology Hump", pretty self explanatory. And funny.

Can't wait till Saturday!! Love me some SNL ... what did you think of this episode? Tweet me!

Just Friends

I have to say it again, I love me some Parks and Recreation. If you're not watching this show, do yourself a favor and click here.

This week's episode centered around Leslie and Ben leading a bunch of kids in a model UN. The fact that they're no longer dating doesn't make this task any easier. Oh, they start out just fine, but as they day progresses, things start to sour. Leslie thinks they can remain friends even though they can't date due to her political aspirations, but Ben is just not emotionally ready to be friends since he still has feelings for her. Leslie still has feelings for him, too, which is why she's hanging onto whatever relationship she can salvage with him, even if it is an awkward, painful friendship.

Ron is busy trying to get Tom to come back to work after the tremendous failure that was Entertainment 720. It's a much more difficult task than you'd think.

Chris asks Ann for some advice with his relationship with Jerry's daughter, which is all kinds of wrong. And I absolutely love Donna's enthusiasm for hearing about Chris' love life.

Always Sunny on SNL

Charlie Day was the host on SNL on Saturday and it was one of the best shows this season! Maroon 5 was the musical guest.

Highlights:

Kim's Fairytale Divorce: This one is an instant classic. Kristin Wiig nails Kris Jenner perfectly. In fact, all the players are so good in this. You have to see it. It's truly hilarious.

Kings of Catchphrase Comedy: See if you can spot the digs towards Dane Cook and Sarah Silverman.

Weekend Update: Bill Hader absolutely skewers Rick Perry, and Kristin Wiig outdoes herself on the latest Judy Grimes bit.

Crime Scene: I loved this because Jason Sudeikis and Charlie Day are so much fun to watch together.

Parents Rule

Up All Night is definitely one of the best new shows of the season. If Christina Applegate, Will Arnett, and Maya Rudolph aren't nominated for something this year, I'll be pissed.

The fourth episode is all about Reagan's online shopping habit - and buying a new mommy car that will still allow her to be cool. This is an awesome episode, and it has a lot of heart. Maya is hilarious in this episode, too, by the way.

The fifth episode is awesome as well. The lovely couple takes their beautiful baby girl to a new baby class. But this isn't just any baby class, this is hardcore. Complete with peek-a-boo lessons. There's apparently a wrong way to play peek-a-boo! Oh and mean mommies are everywhere.

The V Neck

SNL has been on a roll lately! First, Alec Baldwin, then Melissa McCarthy. And last weekend, Ben Stiller. I thought he did a great job. My favorites were The V Neck, Shanna: The Halloween Party, Stefon and Zoolander on Weekend Update, and the Lincoln Financial commercial spoofs.

This past weekend, Anna Faris hosted, and I wish I could say it was as great as the first three shows of the season. But it wasn't. There were some highlights though: the monologue, Lifetime Game Show, the Manuel Ortiz Show, and Nicki Minaj's surprise appearance during Drake's second performance.

Scripted Perfection

I'm so glad there are GOOD scripted shows out there. Now, you know I love my reality shows, but sometimes a good scripted comedy is just what the doctor ordered.

Here are a few of my favorites from this week:

New Girl: This show continues to delight me. Zooey Deschanel is still as cute and funny as ever, and the supporting cast is getting some dimension with some solid plot lines. This week's episode took place at a wedding where Jess has to pretend to be one of the roommates' girlfriend to keep a mean-girl ex from breaking his heart again. Jess takes her duty as fake girlfriend very seriously, and comedy ensues. Look out for the awesome chicken dance - Jess-style. Peck, peck, peck!

Parks and Recreation: Leslie has written a book about Pawnee, the town she loves so much, and can't wait for it to be chosen as official book club selection by a local tv host. Unfortunately, there's a slight problem with one of Leslie's claims in the book, which means she has to defend herself and the book, all while running for office. I loved this episode. Especially Rashida Jones' character Ann trying to socialize with Ron and April, perhaps the two least social people in the office. And there's plenty of Aziz Ansari's craziness as Tom Haverford including a hilarious dinner scene with the local tv host and Ben.

The Office: Crisis descends upon the Scranton branch when the warehouse workers win the lottery. Darryl used to be in that lottery pool until he got promoted. Feeling sorry for himself, he begs to be fired, but Andy just can't do it. Meanwhile, Erin, Jim, and Kevin volunteer to take over warehouse duties for the day. This episode was a lot better than last week's for sure.

Always Sunny in Philadelphia: Dee is being audited since she's still claiming that baby she had last season as a dependent. If you don't recall, she was actually a surrogate for someone else. So when the IRS comes calling, she has to get her hands on a baby quick or else she'll owe the government all of her newly spent surrogate money. The guys are in a pickle as well. Well, at least Charlie and Mac are - they've formed the Pickle Party in order to make their wishes known to Frank and Dennis. Unfortunately, neither side has enough votes to win, so Mac and Charlie convince Dee to be on their side if they help her with her baby dilemma. I can't say any more about this episode since I think it pretty much tops any episode of this show ever. It's dark, twisted, wrong, but funny. Don't watch if you're easily offended.

The Big Big Moustache

If you know me at all, you know "Parks and Recreation" is my favorite kind of show. Funny, sometimes touching, and always entertaining. This ensemble cast is the one of the best on TV right now. No offense, Modern Family, but you get enough love as it is.

Last week's episode was super enjoyable. Ron's first wife Tammy comes back to "help" him with his IRS audit, which she basically caused, and Ron becomes ... not himself. It's up to Leslie to save Ron from Tammy's diabolical scheme. But that proves to be more difficult than she imagined.

Ben tries to help Tom with his business, only to find out they're spending more than what they're bringing in. In fact, it seems they're not bringing in any money at all. Ben points this out to Tom, and in classic Haverford fashion, Tom brushes him off. And then gives him an iPad. I love Tom's business, Entertainment 720. It's like Facebook and Google had a bratty little baby who likes models and basketball players.

Leslie and Ben are still at a loss for what to do about their relationship. They both don't want to break up but it's not going to look good for her political career if they continue to date while they work together.

Being Boss is Hard

The latest episode of "The Office" was a little slow. I really hope the show finds their rhythm and doesn't get worse. The episode was alright, but definitely not amazing.

Andy is desperate for Robert's approval, so when Robert spouts off some ridiculous goal of the staff doubling their profits, Andy will do whatever it takes to help them meet that goal. He implements an incentive system, which includes a variety of prizes for increasing profits. The biggest incentive of all is his promise to get a tattoo on his ass, the actual tattoo itself would be the staff person's choice. Jim comes up with the great idea to pool all of the office's profit/incentive points together to meet the requisite number for the tattoo prize more quickly. And they do, to Andy's horror.

When Robert is asked why he picked Andy to be manger, he snidely states that he is the underdog and as such he will inspire the unexceptional. I hate this guy.

To find out if Andy actually got the butt tattoo, watch the episode here. There are some really funny moments, but like I said, it is a little slow.

Grown Up Problems

I finally caught up on the awesome show "Up All Night." I highly recommend you do the same if you haven't already.

The second episode centers around Reagan and Chris (Christina Applegate and Will Arnett) getting new, hip, cool neighbors. All they want is to impress this couple, and they get to work on it right away. Sure, tequila on the doorstep was a risky move, but after some Facebook profile tweaking, they get invited to the couple's first party. Unfortunately, Reagan and Chris have a baby that they would like to put to sleep sometime in the near future, and the noise is not helping. I loved the contrast between Reagan and Chris and the new couple, oh and another couple as well. So funny. Check out the episode here.

You're going to love the third episode. I think it was the best yet. Turns out, Ava (Maya Rudolph) used to date this sleazy R&B singer played by Jorma Taccone from the hilarious Lonely Island trio. Their relationship was ... tumultuous. So, when Ava finds out he's getting married, she freaks out at Reagan, who happened to facilitate their break up. Meanwhile, Reagan and Chris are struggling to find balance between being comfortable and just looking like a mess. Chris decides to start dressing nicer at home to prompt Reagan to do the same. She's not feeling it, since she has to be in girdles and spanx all day at work. The last thing she wants to do when she gets home is dress up. There's a wickedly witty breakfast scene where Reagan makes her point that you just have to see. Awesome. To help Ava out of her funk, Reagan arranges a meeting between her and her ex, B-Ro (but first we get to see the magical music video they made together - OMG). Check out the episode immediately.

Oh and follow Ava (the character) on twitter, and check out her website. Oprah, who? This lady is my hero!

I Love SNL This Time of Year

Yes, SNL is back with its 37th season. That's amazing. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: I am an SNL fan. You can make fun of me all you want. Tell me about all of the terrible seasons there have been over the last 37 years, I don't care. I will stick with this show forever. Because even in the worst episodes, there is some glimmer of fun and laughter. And if not, there's always next week.

This season is off to a great start. Alec Baldwin was the season premiere host, and it was a great show. Steve Martin and Seth Rogen made an appearance in the monologue, which I think worked quite well. Alec is a great host because he's not only a talented actor, he has real comedic timing, which not every actor has. There were some real gems in this episode, including Alec's impressions of Tony Bennett and Al Pacino, Kristin Wiig's amazing perfume ad for "Red Flag", and everyone's favorite game, "Who's On Top?". You can see the sketches, exclusive online clips and the full episode here.

The second episode of the season was even better than the first. Melissa McCarthy, who in my opinion is a funny lady genius, hosted and brought it big time. You know her from the hilarious movie "Bridesmaids". Her monologue was so fun, it set the tone for the whole show for me. This lady is fearless. I loved the Arlene sketch and the Taste Test the most. She really goes there - just like Kristin and one of my other faves, Maya Rudolph. Sometimes I wish Maya was still on the cast. She's also a funny lady genius. Check out Melissa hosting here.
