2012 is HERE!

I hope everyone is having a great year so far! I really enjoyed all of the NYE programming this year. To be fair, I have a special place in my heart for CNN's coverage with Anderson Cooper and Kathy Griffin, so of course, that's always my favorite. And it was even better this year, because Kathy strutted around in her bra for us - but didn't swear AT ALL - which made for a very giggly Anderson, just like I like him. Lady Gaga's performance on ABC's Rockin' Eve (can they come up with a better name, please?!) was AMAZING! We got Heavy Metal Lover, Marry The Night, and Born This Way. I loved it. And her outfit for the ball drop??? OMG ... 2012 will be another year of Gaga domination. I'm telling you. CeeLo Green doing "Imagine" was oddly touching. I was impressed. I even checked out MTV's NYE special, and Demi Lovato's performance was the highlight for me. On NBC, The Roots killed it, not once, but twice. Those guys are ridiculously talented.

I guess I should tell you what my "resolution" is - although it's not much of a resolution, it's more of a declaration. I plan to take every single opportunity and do something with it. I plan to put myself out there with everything I have and let people see what I have to offer. I plan to team up with the best and the brightest I can find to make something truly magical happen. It's really up to me to change my life, and starting this blog almost a year ago was the first step. I want to thank every single person who has ever read my blog, because each of you gave me the encouragement to keep on writing.

Let's make 2012 an amazing year. Oh yeah, and screw the Mayan calendar. This year, it's not the end. It's just gettin' started!

My Predictions

The DWTS Finals were last night, and you know I have my opinions. So let's jump right in.

Ricki performed a cha cha - and something was a little conservative about this performance for me. I wish she would have just busted out and blew our minds. No such luck, though. The judges liked it, but pointed out a few mistakes. Her score: 27.

Rob did the waltz and it was very pretty. Cheryl is an awesome choreographer and he definitely played the role of the leading man. Good job. The judges loved it, but let him know he missed a step here and there. His score: 27.

JR also did the cha cha, and it was chock full of fancy footwork. I liked it, but the judges mentioned his arms were a bit off and he lost his timing in the beginning of the dance. His score: 24.

Freestyle time!!!

Ricki's freestyle in a word, was disappointing. Very disappointing. It was a combo of salsa and quickstep, and although technically, it was perfect, it wasn't exciting. It was just nice. And that's not what freestyle is about. I did like the lifts and such, but it wasn't enough to win, in my opinion. The judges liked it, and mentioned it was a very demanding routine. Her score: 27.

Rob went next, and his routine was very 20's-inspired. I wasn't impressed with this one either! The tempo of the song was all over the place, and it was just clumsy at times. I did like Rob's pachuco outfit, though. The judges, inexplicably, loved it. His score: 30.

JR's freestyle was AMAZING!! THIS IS A FREESTYLE!! It was exciting, animated, and FUN! The lifts were awesome and the choreography made me wanna get up and dance. I think Karina nailed it on this one. This freestyle was the best one I've seen in a long time. The judges loved this one, as well they should. His score: 30.

JR won it last night for me. Unless Ricki pulls out all the stops tonight, I think she'll be number two. I really hope JR wins, though. Rob did a nice job, and I'm wondering if the powers that be will intervene and throw the number one spot his way. I really hope not. JR totally deserves the win.

My New Favorite Show

I've been meaning to catch up on "Suburgatory" ever since Ana Gasteyer was on Wendy Williams' show talking about it.

I finally watched all 5 episodes of this incredibly charming show, and I'm in love. And it's not just because Jeremy Sisto is still a super hot foxy man. This show is funny, sweet, and straight up entertaining. If you haven't seen it, take a couple hours and watch all the episodes here. It's totally worth it.

The premise is a father and daughter, played by Sisto and the awesome Jane Levy, who move to a suburban neighborhood from big, bad New York City. To say it's a culture clash is an understatement. Cheryl Hines, who we know from Curb Your Enthusiasm, and Gasteyer, who was amazing on SNL, are just a couple of the overbearing suburbia moms who horn into Sisto and Levy's lives now that they're part of their community.

I really love the dialogue and the acting on this show. This definitely my new favorite show!

JR for the Win!

Dancing With The Stars is getting down to the wire, and yes, thank the Lord, Hope was voted off last night.

She has the WORST attitude. Instead of recognizing that she is the worst dancer left on the show, and the least famous person on the show, she has this stupid entitled attitude that's just infuriating. On last night's recap, they revealed that she and Maks were saying "F*** them" about the judges, and basically ignoring everything they said. Even Len was confused, saying "We were being nice." No matter what the judges did, Hope was going to act like a spoiled brat. I'm so glad she's gone. And Maks too, actually. He needs to go. I'm all for getting new judges if it means getting rid of some of these ego-maniacal pros as well.

JR had a tough week, with an injury that just wouldn't stay in check. I really felt for him. Let's hope he's in better shape for the finals! Come on, JR, I picked you as the winner! Don't let me down!

Ricki is back in her groove, and she really turned it out this week. I'm so proud of her!! I'm just glad she gets to go to the finals. I think she'd make a great runner up - unless she runs away with the win after all.

Rob has momentum on his side, along with the judges love, so I'm not at all surprised he's in the finals. I don't see him winning, but stranger things have happened. I can't wait to see his freestyle dance. Cheryl does have some luck with those.

Jump, Jive, and Wail

Week 2 of Dancing with the Stars is over and I have to say, I'm happy with the outcome. Before I talk about who went home, let's discuss some of the performances.

First, the nip slip, I mean Nancy Grace. I did feel bad for her. That was total nipple. You can't tell me that was a pasty. Come on. Anyway, her performance was actually pretty good and she looked like she was having fun. But the costume designers need to fit her properly next time for sure.

Kristin Cavallari did a great job. And I think those rumors of her and Mark Ballas being romantic might be true. He has a tendency to get chummy with his partners (Sabrina Bryan, anyone?).

I loved Ricki Lake's performance! It was so much fun! I really love seeing her smile and have a great time. And some of that choreography looked brutal. Awesome job, Ricki!

Chaz was struggling with some physical pain, and I felt for him. It must be extremely difficult to want to dance your heart out, but your body just can't take it. I hope he feels better and dances with less pain next week.

David Arquette is one to watch. I think when he focuses, he does a wonderful job. I can tell this competition means a lot to him, and I don't blame him for wanting to knock it out of the park.

J.R. Martinez is so inspiring. The guy has incredible energy and an unbreakable spirit. I love watching this guy dance. His attitude makes him even more endearing. I think he's going to make it to the top 5 easily.

Now, for the latest celeb to go home (SPOILER) ... I am actually very happy that Elisabetta went home. She seems like a nice enough person, but gurl had no rhythm and just looked awkward. She's definitely more suited for modeling and being famous for dating someone famous. Good luck to you!

History Was Made

Dancing With The Stars last night was pretty incredible. Besides all of the great dancing and humorous clips of the celebs learning to dance, there was another element that made it even more exciting.

History was made last night as Chaz Bono danced, as a transgendered man on national tv with a woman. I don't know how all of you feel about it, and I'm not going to get political here, but you can't deny that we witnessed a huge step forward for the transgender community.

Now, I have just as many questions as the next person about transgendered people and how they deal with every day life before, during, and after their transition. And I don't presume to know what it's like at all, because I'm not a part of that community. But I can certainly see how Chaz is opening the doors for transgendered people in this country by telling his story and being on such a popular show as Dancing With The Stars.

Chaz did a great job on his first dance, as did most of the contestants. I loved Carson Kressley's routine! He was hilarious and bubbly, and definitely won over the crowd. I felt a little bad for Elisabetta Canalis, she isn't the most graceful person on the show, and I think she'll follow the trend of most models on DWTS and leave soon. Ricki Lake did fantastic, as did Chyna Philips, two of my favorite 90s era ladies! Rob Kardashian did a pretty good job, and his sisters were there to cheer him on. Khloe was a little too vocal in my opinion, but hey, that's her. Mr. Ron Artest (aka Metta World Peace) impressed no one, I'm afraid, but I was looking for Kimsha in the audience. Where is Kimsha?! Nancy Grace tried her best, but she'll be gone soon, too. I know I'm forgetting some so I'll stop here.
